Writer's Workshop in LS Library

This week, the LS Library will be hosting our inaugural Writer-in-Residence, Patricia Newman, to Sacred Heart! Ms. Newman is a dynamic, engaging, and passionate educator who writes middle-grade nonfiction that inspires kids to seek connections between science, literacy, and the environment. The recipient of a Robert F. Sibert Honor Award and the Green Earth Book Award Patricia Newman shares her excitement for writing and hopes to inspire readers and writers of all ages to act and use their imagination to solve problems. 

On Monday, Ms. Newman will use one of her books as a mentor text to address aspects of the writing process (finding an idea, research, revision) plus: what she loves to write about; the hardest part of writing for her; how she taps into her curiosity and uniqueness; and the perseverance required to write a book from start to finish. She will be using the following books:
